   1. This Notice may be cited as the Imports Control (Exemption) (Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority) Notice.

   2. No import licence shall be required for importation of the material and equipment in respect of which the controller is satisfied that they have been or are to be imported by or on behalf of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority are to be used for any of the purposes connected with the construction or maintenance of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway.

THE IMPORTS CONTROL (IMPORTATION OF CHARITABLE GIFTS WITHOUT LICENCE) NOTICE

(Section 17)

   1. This Notice may be cited as the Imports Control (Importation of Charitable Gifts without Licence) Notice.

   2. The goods specified in the Schedule to this Notice are hereby permitted to be imported without import licence.

SCHEDULE

   Foodstuffs, clothing and medical supplies consigned as gifts to any Missionary Society approved by the Minister for Finance under the Customs Tariff (Remission of Customs Duties) Order * or to the Tanzania Red Cross Society or to any other charitable society, and in respect of which the Commissioner of Customs and Excise is satisfied that they are intended for free distribution or for use by the consignee for relief operations.

THE IMPORTATION WITHOUT LICENCE (SPECIFIED ITEMS) NOTICE

   1. This Notice may be cited as the Importation without Licence (Specified Items) Notice.

   2. With effect from the first day of July, 1984, the goods specified in the Schedule to this Notice, designated as specified items for the purposes of the Notice, and originating from any country, are hereby permitted to be imported without an import licence.

SCHEDULE

      (i)   Cooking oils.

      (ii)   Soap.

      (iii)   Toothpaste.

THE OPEN GENERAL LICENCE NOTICE

(Section 5)

[1st July, 1993]

G.N. No. 172 of 1993

   1. This Notice may be cited as the Open General Licence Notice.

   2. From the effective date of this Notice, all goods with the exception of goods specified in the First Schedule to this Notice, may be imported into Tanzania under the authority of this Open General Licence without any specific Import Licence.

   3. (1) From the effective date of this Notice, all importers shall be required to fill in an Import Declaration form, "I/D Form" specified in the Second Schedule to this Notice for every consignment imported into the country irrespective of magnitude or value.

   (2) The "I/D Form" shall be the control document for Customs Clearance purposes.

   4. The "I/D Forms" shall be available at all customs posts including Airports and Commercial Bank counters at a fee of United States dollars 10.00 or its equivalent in Tanzania shillings per set.

   5. (1) The Customs Officers and Commercial Banks shall collect the fee specified in paragraph 4 above, on behalf of the Bank of Tanzania.

   (2) The third copy of each of the completed set of the "I/D Form" duly stamped shall be despatched to the Bank of Tanzania by the Customs Department.

   6. Imports under this Open General Licence shall be subject to Pre-shipment Inspection in accordance with the directions to be published by the Bank of Tanzania from time to time.
