1. This Notice may be cited as the Survivors' Benefit for Dependants (Exemption) Notice, and shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-fourth day of March, 1978.
2. The provisions of section 20A of the Public Service Pensions Act, which relate to granting of survivors' benefits to dependants shall only apply in relation to a dependant who is ordinarily resident in Tanzania.

1. This Order may be cited as the Pensions (Additional Retirement Benefits to Specified Public Officers) Order.
2. The specified public officers to whom this Order applies are–
(a) Chief Justice;
(b) Judge and a Justice of Appeal;
(c) Attorney General;
(d) Controller and Auditor General;
(e) Chief Secretary; and
(f) Inspector-General of Police and the Principal Commissioner of Prisons.
3. (1) In addition to the pension or gratuity payable under the Public Service Pensions Act to the public officers specified in paragraph 2 of this Order, the officers shall upon retirement be granted, subject to subparagraph (2), the following additional benefits–
(a) one car which shall be granted only once at the time of the officer's retirement and registered in the officer's name;
(b) one driver's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.4;
(c) one night guard's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.2;
(d) one security guard's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.3;
(e) one cook's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.1;
(f) one domestic servant's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.2;
(g) one dhobi's allowance equivalent to starting salary of TGOS.3;
(h) allowance for the maintenance of a vehicle and provisions of petrol at the following rates–
(i) fifty litres (50) per week; and
(ii) forty percent (40%) of the petrol allowance.
(2) Where a specified public officer to whom this order applies is engaged in any other public office whereby any of the additional benefits specified in subparagraph (1) is provided to him by virtue of that public office, the provision to him of that additional benefit by the Government under this Order shall be suspended until he ceases to hold that other office or to receive the additional benefit, but shall be provided the other additional benefit which is not provided to him while he holds the other office.
4. For the purposes of paragraph 3, "a car" shall mean any motor vehicle commonly known as a "car" other than a "jeep", "landrover", "pickup", "limousine", "land cruiser", "land trooper", "rangerover" and vehicles of that type or model.
5. Benefits granted under this Order shall cease upon the death of the specified public officer to whom it is granted.

WHEREAS section 30 of the Public Service Retirement Benefits Act 1999 empowers the President after Consultation with the Retirement Benefits Committee considers it necessary, desirable or in the national interest that the minimum pension payable to persons enjoying retirement benefits under the provisions of the Pensions Ordinance * and the Public Service Retirement Benefits Act * be increased or otherwise varied or modified he may in writing signify his intention to the Minister in that behalf:
AND WHEREAS the Minister for Finance after receiving a writing signifying to him the intention of the President he shall submit the same to the National Assembly for approval by resolution, thereafter, he shall by order published in the Gazette increase, vary or modify the Minimum Pension:
AND WHEREAS I, BASIL PESAMBILI MRAMBA, the Minister for Finance, am satisfied that there are sufficient reasons to warrant the exercise of these powers in respect of the increase of Minimum Pension payable to persons enjoying retirement benefits:
NOW THEREFORE in the exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 30 of the Public Service Retirement Benefits Act, 1999 I do hereby declare as follows:
1. This order may be cited as the Public Service Retirement Benefits (Minimum Pension) Order.
2. It is hereby declared that the minimum pension payable to any person who has been in the Civil Service and qualified for pension is hereby increased by twenty percent. {/mprestriction}
