THE EXAMINATION REGULATIONS

(Section 18)

G.N. No. 12 of 1994

1.    Citation

    These Regulations may be cited as the Examination Regulations.

2.    Interpretation

    In these Regulations unless the context requires otherwise–

    "Act" means the National Examinations Council of Tanzania Act *;

    "centre" means an examination centre established by the Council;

    "examination" means a measurement of academic or professional achievement at the end of an academic phase or professional training phase which helps to provide accurate predictions for future academic successor, future professional competence;

    "examination offence" means any harm brought about either before, or during or after the examination by the conduct of a candidate in relation to examinations, which the council desires to prevent by a threat of punishment;

    "examination officer" means a person employed by the Council on such terms and conditions as the Council may consider necessary for the performance of its functions;

    "examination year" means the period between the beginning of the registration of candidates and the end of the sitting of the said examinations.

3.    Governing of examinations

    Any examination shall be governed by the regulations in force at the time of sitting and not at the time of registration.

4.    Date of examinations

    (1) Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, Teacher Grade B Education Examinations, General course in Engineering, Part Time Technician Courses Examinations, National Business Examinations and Qualifying Test shall be done in November of the Examination year.

    (2) Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations, Teacher Grade A Education Examinations, Diploma in Education Examinations, Full Technician Certificate Examinations, Advanced Diploma in Engineering Examination and some National Business Examinations shall be done in May of the Examination year.

    (3) The examination for the levels provided under subparagraph (1) and (2) of this Regulation shall be held once every year except for some National Business Examinations which shall be held twice every year.

    (4) Timetables in respect of the date of the examinations shall be sent to the Centres and to private candidates within a reasonable length of time before the start of such examinations.

5.    Application and entry for final examinations

    (1) Any person who is a current student at any registered Institution shall not be accepted as a private candidate.

    (2) The Council reserves the right to accept or not to accept affidavits or the right of declining to entertain any application in respect of an entry into final examinations.

    (3) Every bona fide student in a registered secondary school, college or institution registered by the Ministry of Education shall be registered by the respective head of that school, college or institution.

    (4) Every student in a secondary school college, or institute shall be examined continuously, and all such continuous assessment marks shall be sent to the Executive Secretary in the prescribed time provided by the Council.

    (5) Failure to send the continuous assessment forms of the students in the prescribed time, shall render the candidate ineligible for registration for the respective final examination.

    (6) Complete entry forms for Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations, Teacher Grade B Education Examinations, General Course in Engineering Examinations, Part Time Technician Courses Examinations, National Business Examinations and Qualifying Test shall reach the Executive Secretary not later than 30th April of the Examination year.

    (7) Application forms for candidates for Full Technicians Certificate Examinations, Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations, Advanced Diploma in Engineering Examinations, Teacher Grade A Education Examination and Diploma in Education Examinations shall reach the Executive Secretary not later than 30th September of the examination year.

    (8) Changes of entries and centres may be accepted if requests for such changes reach the Executive Secretary not later than 30th June for the November series of examinations, and not later than 31st December for the May series of examinations.

    (9) On registration, the Council shall accept the first name, one middle name and surname in full or first name and surname in full together with not more than three initials for the middle names if any.

6.    Conduct of final examinations

    (1) Candidates shall be required to appear for final examinations at the Centres under which they are registered.

    (2) A supervisor appointed by the Council shall–

    (a)    be responsible for the proper conduct of the examinations;

    (b)    submit a signed declaration that the regulations have been duly observed throughout the examination;

    (c)    report to the Council exceptional circumstances considered likely to prejudice a candidate's performance;

    (d)    report all cases of irregularity or misconduct in the examination and he shall have power to discontinue the examination of any candidate who may misconduct himself during the examination:

    Provided that the final responsibility for the conduct of examinations in respect of any centre shall be of the Head of that centre.

    (3) Candidates shall be required–

    (a)    to observe any general instructions that may be given by the supervisor;

    (b)    to be in their places at least five minutes prior to the time prescribed for the commencement of an examination;

    (c)    to sit in the order of their index numbers;

    (d)    to write his index number on every page of the script paper used;

    (c)    to answer questions in good presentation and shall answer all questions in the prescribed language;

    (f)    to write in blue or black except for diagrams where any other colour may be used;

    (g)    to immediately stop writing after notice is given by the Supervisor to do so and a warning must also be given fifteen minutes prior to the time the examination ends;

    (h)    to see to it that orderliness and tranquillity are maintained in an examination room;

    (i)    where a candidate is permitted to use his own electronic calculator at an examination, it must be a handheld type machine, quiet in operation, compact and have its own power supply.

    (4) No candidate shall be allowed–

    (a)    to pass any information from one to another during an examination unless expressly so authorised;

    (b)    to act in collusion with another candidate or any other person;

    (c)    to copy from another candidate or engage in any such similar activity; or

    (d)    to enter the examination room more than half an hour after a paper has been distributed and to leave the examination room until half an hour has elapsed after a paper has been distributed;

    (e)    to write on answer booklets or script papers names, initials or any other marks that may distinguish him from another candidate.

    (5) Examinations shall be held–

    (a)    on the dates shown on the timetable and times specified notwithstanding public holidays that are not indicated on calendars; and

    (b)    for the time shown on the question paper.

    (6) No writing paper, blotting paper, text book, dictionary, manuscripts, notes, instruments, or other materials or aids shall be brought into the examination room other than those specifically permitted by the Council for the said examination.

    (7) Nothing unauthorised by the Council shall be handled or consulted during an examination.

    (8) A candidate in possession of any material or aid shall immediately deposit with the invigilator on entry into the examination room, otherwise the candidate shall be disqualified from that examination, or from the entire examination as the Council may determine.

    (9) Smoking in the examination room is prohibited.

    (10) Question papers for any given examination shall not be taken out of the examination room until the time for that examination expires.

    (11) Any person who not being a candidate counsels, aids, procures or abets a candidate to commit an examination offence in the purview of the Council, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour punishable by law.

    (12) Failure to observe regulation 5, 6, 7 and 8, or these Regulation shall constitute an examination offence and such cases shall be reported immediately to the Council.

    (13) A candidate found to have committed an examination offence shall:

    (a)    have his examination nullified; or

    (b)    be excluded from all future examinations set by the Council; or

    (c)    be prosecuted for the alleged offence; or

    (d)    be subjected to treatments provided for under paragraph (a), (b) and (c) of this regulation notwithstanding any other regulation.

7.    Examination fees

    (1) The Council shall charge examination fees from both private and school candidates.

    (2) The Executive Secretary, shall by public notice at the beginning of every registration period give detailed particulars and mode of payment of fees applicable to all types of examinations of the particular period.

    (3) The Council shall not, except at the discretion of the Executive Secretary:

    (a)    entertain any alteration or change once registration has been accepted and fees paid; or

    (b)    accept late entries; or

    (c)    accept the addition of a subject to an entry already made unless an extra fee is made payable.

    (4) All fees shall be payable at the prescribed places and shall not be negotiable or refunded or transferred.

    (5) If a candidate who has completed his registration travels outside the United Republic of Tanzania, and if the travelling extends through and beyond the examination season, the candidate will have forfeited his examination and will not be entitled to any claims.

    (6) A candidate who requests in writing to have his work reviewed, rechecked, or remarked shall be charged a fee in that respect.

8.    Exemptions from general requirement of registration

    (1) A candidate may subject to the approval of the Executive Secretary apply for an exemption from the normal requirements of registration for Certificate or Secondary Education Examinations, Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations, professional or technical examinations.

    (2) Applications for exemptions under paragraph (1) of this regulation shall be accompanied by the relevant certificates and; or testimonials from a recognised institute within or from outside the country.

    (3) A candidate is not permitted to enter an examination or part of an examination i.e. a Diploma in Education, Advanced Diploma in Engineering, or a Full Technician Certificate if he has failed that examination or part of it on two previous occasions unless by illness or other adequate cause for which certification must be obtained. Such certification will not be considered if it is received by the Executive Secretary outside the registration period of the examination in question.

9.    Private centres

    (1) Any Government Secondary School, College, educational or professional institute registered with any relevant Ministry or the Ministry of Education in Mainland Tanzania or Zanzibar, may apply to the Council for permission to establish a Centre.

    (2) A handicapped private candidate may apply to the Executive Secretary for special services during an examination.

    (3) During an examination additional time shall be given to the handicapped candidate.

    (4) Upon getting any special service during an examination a handicapped private candidate shall pay additional fees as prescribed by the Council.

    (5) Practical Examinations shall be held at approved centres only.

    (6) The Council may establish a centre within the United Republic in cases where there are at least twenty registered candidates in any one subject or at diplomatic mission on request by the Tanzanian candidates residing there.

10.    Examination for blind candidates

    (1) A blind candidate shall either dictate his answers to an Amanuensis or type his answers on a standard typewriter.

    (2) Additional examination time shall be given to a blind candidate at the rate of twenty minutes in every hour for mathematical subjects and ten minutes in each hour for other subjects.

11.    Foreign examination

    (1) Foreign examination shall be done by non-Tanzanians.

    (2) Foreign examining Boards shall set conditions, fees or any other requirement for running these foreign examinations.

    (3) The Council shall act as agents of these foreign examining boards in running these examinations and it shall charge local fees to be paid in foreign currency.

    (4) A Tanzanian national residing or studying outside the United Republic, who may happen to be within the United Republic at the time when the foreign examinations are being held in their respective countries, shall be allowed to apply for having their examinations done in the United Republic.

12.    Local examination done by foreigners

    A foreigner residing in Tanzania and would like to sit for the local examinations shall pay examination fees in local currency.

13.    Local examination done by Tanzanians outside the United Republic

    A Tanzanian national residing or studying outside the United Republic who would like to sit for the local examinations shall be treated as a private candidate.

14.    Written replies

    Written replies to any examination paper shall be possessed by the Council and shall not be returned to the candidate.

15.    Examinable subjects for the Certificate of Secondary Education

    (1) Examinable subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education examination shall be grouped and based on the syllabus published and distributed by the Ministry responsible with education in both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.

    (2) At the first entry, a school candidate shall sit for at least seven subjects amongst Civics, Kiswahili, English Language, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or Technical, Natural Sciences or Commercial or Home Economics Subjects.

    (3) No candidate for the Certificate of Secondary Education examination shall enter for more than ten subjects.

    (4) A private candidate for Certificate of Secondary Education examination shall–

    (a)    enter and sit for at least three subjects at first sitting, two of which must be Civics and Kiswahili;

    (b)    not be allowed to sit for natural science, home economics, music, fine art and technical subjects unless there is documentary evidence that he is undertaking a full course in practical work in a recognised laboratory;

    (c)    submit the documentary evidence from the head of the institute conducting the practical course together with his application forms.

16.    Examination results for the award of Certificate of Secondary Education

    (1) Examination results shall be graded A, B, C, D or F and indicate as follows–

        A = 1    indicating Excellent.

        B = 2    indicating Very Good.

        C = 3    indicating Good.

        D = 4    indicating Satisfactory.

        F = 5    indicating Fail.

    (2) The letter grades A, B, C and D shall be graded as passes and F as Fail.

    (3) The Certificate of Secondary Education shall be awarded in four divisions to both private and school candidates who have conferred to entry requirements and have fulfilled the conditions of the award.

17.    Conditions of various awards

    (1) Division One Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes in at least seven subjects enumerated under regulation 15(2);

    (b)    passes at grade A, or B or C in at least five subjects; and

    (c)    reaches an aggregate of not more than seventeen points taking the candidate's best seven subjects.

    (2) Division Two Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes in at least seven subjects as enumerated under regulation 15(2);

    (b)    passes at grade A or B, or C in at least four subjects; and

    (c)    reaches an aggregate of not more than twenty one points taking the candidate's best seven subjects.

    (3) Division Three Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes at least five subjects two of which shall be at grade A, B or C; or

    (b)    passes at lease five subjects two of which shall be at grade A, B or C; and

    (c)    reaches an aggregate of not more than 25 points taking the candidate's best seven subjects.

    (4) Division Four Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes in at least one subject at grade A, B or C; or

    (b)    passes two subjects at grade D.

18.    Certificate of Secondary Education Examination

    The Certificate of Secondary Education Examination awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the First Schedule to these Regulations.

19.    Qualifying Test

    (1) Qualifying Test shall be done by a private candidate who has not attained form three secondary education from a public secondary school or a government registered secondary school.

    (2) Qualifying Test shall be done by such a candidate in an attempt to get the qualifications enabling the candidate to sit for the certificate of Secondary Education.

    (3) The Council shall not issue certificates to candidates who pass the qualifying test.

    (4) The Qualifying test shall be composed of questions from Civics, History, Geography, Kiswahili, English Language, Mathematics and Science Subjects.

20.    Examinable subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education

    (1) Examinable subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education shall be based on the syllabus published and distributed by the Ministry of Education in both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

    (2) A Candidate applying for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination shall be required to have a minimum of at least three credits A, B or C at the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination level or its equivalent in three different subjects, regardless of whether the credits were obtained at one sitting or cumulative.

    (3) A candidate for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education shall not sit for Advanced Mathematics together with Basic Applied Mathematics or Divinity subject together with Islamic Knowledge.

    (4) A private candidate sitting for Advanced Certificate of Secondary Educations Examination shall be required to sit for at least two subjects including General Studies which shall be a subsidiary subject.

    (5) Where a private candidate has passed or failed in General Studies at a previous sitting he shall not be required to offer General Studies at any other subsequent sitting.

    (6) A candidate shall not sit for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination until the lapse of two years after his obtaining a Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent.

21.    Examination results for the award of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education

    (1) Examination results of Principal Subjects shall be graded A, B, C, D, E, S or F and indicated as follows–

        A = 1    indicating Principal Pass

        B = 2    indicating Principal Pass

        C = 3    indicating Principal Pass

        D = 4    indicating Principal Pass

        E = 5    indicating Principal Pass

        S = 6    indicating Subsidiary Pass

        F = 7    indicating Fail

    (2) Examination results of Subsidiary subjects shall be graded S indicating Subsidiary Pass or F indicating Fail.

    (3) The Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education shall be awarded in four divisions to both private and school candidates who have conformed to entry requirements and have fulfilled the conditions of the award.

22.    Conditions of various awards

    (1) A Division One Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes General Studies; and

    (b)    obtains not more than nine points in three subjects taken at principal level.

    (2) A Division Two Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    passes General Studies;

    (b)    obtains not less than two principal passes; and

    (c)    obtains not more than twelve points in three subjects taken at principal level.

    (3) A Division Three Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who–

    (a)    either passes two principal subjects; or

    (b)    passes one principal subject with a grade not below C; and

    (c)    obtains not more than 17 points in three subjects taken at principal level.

    (4) A Division Four Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who obtains–

    (a)    at least one principal pass; or

    (b)    at least two subsidiary passes in subjects taken at principal level.

23.    Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education

    The Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the Second Schedule to these Regulations.

24.    Teacher education examinations

    (1) Before a candidate sits for teacher education examinations, the college or institution shall certify that the candidate has completed the prescribed course of study.

    (2) Examinations shall be offered in the subjects based on the syllabus approved by the Ministry of Education in both Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.

25.    Results for the award of Teacher Education Examination Certificate or Diploma in Education

    Examination results for the Teacher Education Examination Certificate or Diploma in Education shall be graded and indicated as follows–

        A = 1    = Excellent

        B = 2    = Very Good

        C = 3    = Good

        D = 4    = Satisfactory

        F = 5    = Fail

26.    Conditions for the award of Teacher Education Examination Certificate

    (1) A candidate sitting for the Teacher Education Examination certificate shall be required to–

    (a)    pass teaching practice exercises; and

    (b)    attempt a minimum of seven subjects and obtain an aggregate of grade D in his examination results.

    (2) A candidate absconding from a compulsory examination shall be disqualified even if his average aggregate points falls within the pass mark range.

27.    Conditions of the award of Diploma in Education

    A candidate sitting for a Diploma in Education shall–

    (a)    have to pass teaching practice exercise; and

    (b)    have to pass all the registered subjects; or

    (c)    be allowed to supplement if he fails in not more than two subjects, within a period not exceeding two years from the time of first sitting.

28.    Certificate for Teachers Education Examination and Diploma

     The Teachers Education Examinations Certificate and the Diploma awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.

29.    Business examinations

    In Business examinations where there is more than one stage in any subject, the applicant shall be accepted subject to the production of documentary evidence to show he has passed the appropriate examination in previous stages and that at least one year has lapsed since he passed such an examination.

30.    Results of business examinations certificate

    Examination results of business examinations shall be graded A, B, C, D or F and indicated as follows:

        A =    indicating Excellent

        B =    indicating Very Good

        C =    indicating Good

        D =    indicating Satisfactory

        E =    indicating Fail.

31.    Conditions of the award

    A Certificate for the business examination shall be awarded at each stage of the examination to a candidate who qualifies for the award of a certificate at the appropriate stage.

32.    Certificate of Business examination

    The Business Examination Certificate awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set up in the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations.

33.    General Courses in Engineering Examination

    (1) A candidate sitting for the General Course in Engineering Examination shall be required to be a part time student at a recognised technical college or institute or working in a relevant industry.

    (2) The Head of the college or institute or industry shall certify on the adequate preparation of the candidate for the examination.

    (3) Entry forms for the General Course in Engineering Examination shall reach the Executive Secretary not later than 30th April of the examination year.

34.    Results of G.C.E. Certificate

    Examination results of General Course in Engineering Examination shall be graded A, B, C, D, or F and are indicated as follows–

        A =    indicating Excellent

        B =    indicating Very Good

        C =    indicating Good

        D =    indicating Satisfactory

        F =    indicating Fail.

35.    Condition of award of G.C.E. Certificate

    A candidate may be allowed to repeat at a subsequent examination, the subjects he failed in the previous examination.

36.    Certificate for the General Course in Engineering

    The General Course in Engineering Certificate awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the Fifth Schedule to these Regulations.

37.    Technician Certificate examinations

    (1) The Technician Certificate examinations shall be offered to private candidates only.

    (2) A candidate shall not be allowed to appear for more than one course and entries shall be made on course basis.

38.    Results of Technician Certificate examination

    Examination results of Technician Certificate examination shall be graded A, B, C, D, or F and are indicated as follows–

        A =    indicating Excellent

        B =    indicating Very Good

        C =    indicating Good

        D =    indicating Satisfactory

        F =    indicating Fail.

39.    Conditions of award of Technician Certificate examination

    A Technical Certificate shall be awarded to a candidate who obtains at least a grade D in the examination.

40.    Certificate of Technician examination

    The Technical Examination Certificate shall contain the particulars set out in the Sixth Schedule to these Regulations.

41.    Full Technician Certificate examinations

    (1) A candidate for Full Technician Certificate examinations shall have to be a full time student at a recognised college or institute.

    (2) Before a candidate is registered for the examination the Head of College or Institute of the candidate shall have to certify that the candidate has successfully completed the prescribed course work.

    (3) A candidate for Full Technician Certificate shall have to register to sit for compulsory subjects and for any other number of options.

42.    Results of Full Technician Certificate examinations

    Examination results for Full Technician Certificate shall be graded and indicated as follows–

        A =    indicating Excellent

        B =    indicating Very Good

        C =    indicating Good

        D =    indicating Satisfactory

        F =    indicating Fail.

43.    Conditions for award of the FTC

    A candidate sitting for the Full Technician Certificate examination shall have to pass all subjects.

44.    Certificate for Full Technician examinations

    The full Technician Certificate awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the Seventh Schedule to these Regulations.

45.    Advanced Diploma in Engineering examinations

    (1) A candidate for Advanced Diploma in Engineering Examinations shall have to successfully complete the three years full time course at a recognised college or institute.

    (2) Before a candidate is registered for the examination the Head of the College or Institution of the candidate shall have to certify that the candidate has successfully completed the prescribed coursework.

46.    Results of Advanced Diplomas in Engineering examinations

    Examination results for the Advanced Diploma in Engineering shall be graded and indicated as follows–

        A = indicating Excellent

        B = indicating Very Good

        C = indicating Good

        D = indicating Satisfactory

        F = indicating Fail.

47.    Conditions

    To qualify for an Advanced Diploma in Engineering in the relevant field of study a candidate shall pass–

    (a)    a project in each course selected and marked by the college or institute and thereafter assessed by a panel of specialists convened by the Council; and

    (b)    all subjects in each course.

48.    Certificate for Advanced Diploma in Engineering examinations

    The Advanced Diploma in Engineering Certificate awarded by the Council shall contain the particulars set out in the Eighth Schedule to these Regulations.

49.    Rights and discretion of the Council

    Issue of results, Certificates and Diploma is entirely within the discretion of the Council. The Council will not, except in its absolute discretion:

    (a)    enter into correspondence about examination results with candidates or the parents, guardians or any other person claiming to act in loco parentis;

    (b)    the Council may withhold or cancel the results of a candidate if it considers that such candidate has been involved in irregularities either before, during or after the examination; or

    (c)    the Council may withhold or cancel a Certificate or Diploma of any candidate.

50.    Certificates and Diplomas

    (1) Any Certificate or Diploma awarded by the Council shall remain the property of the Council and proceedings shall be instituted against any person who alters them without the authority of the Council.

    (2) The Council shall not issue a duplicate copy of a Certificate or Diploma, however a statement of a candidate's examination results shall be sent on a written request to the employer or prospective employer of such candidate, or a University or any other public body.

    (3) The written request to the Council shall bear the candidate's full name, the school attended (if any), the examination centre, year of the examination and candidate's index number.

    (4) Certifying statement shall not be issued to the candidate a parent or guardian of such candidate.

    (5) A Certificate or Diploma warded to a successful school or college or institution candidate shall be sent to respective Heads of such school, college, or institution for onward distribution to the individual candidate.

    (6) A Certificate or Diploma awarded to a successful private candidate shall be sent to the individual private candidate through their postal addresses.

    (7) It shall be the duty of the candidate to notify the Executive Secretary of any changes of address prior to the issue of a Certificate or Diploma.

    (8) The Council shall not entertain any complaints in respect of the examinations from a candidate or an institute after the expiry of six months from the date of issue of the examination results.

    (9) No candidate shall appear for more than one category of examinations amongst the Certificate of Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education, Teacher Grade A or B, Diploma in Education, Full Technician Course, Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Technician Certificate and Qualifying Test.

51.    Supplementary examinations

    (1) A candidate who is required to sit for a supplementary examination shall be required to register his candidacy with his former examination centre and he shall:

    (a)    register himself for supplementary examinations during the normal registration period;

    (b)    register and sit for supplementary examinations only once within a period not exceeding two years from the time of first sitting;

    (c)    supplement up to a maximum of not more than half of the total number of subjects attempted at first sitting.

    (2) Subject to the approval of the Executive Secretary, a candidate may be allowed to supplement after the expiration of two years so long as that candidate does the supplementary examination within a period not exceeding one year from the time such candidate reports back.

    (3) A candidate who for some unavoidable reasons fails to do a paper/papers at first sitting, will not (subject to the approval of the Executive Secretary) do a supplementary examination at a subsequent sitting. He will do an ordinary or special examination with grade ranges between A and F.

    (4) A candidate mentioned under paragraph (3) of this regulation shall be required to sit for an ordinary examination within the times specified under regulation 51(1)(b) save that if he does not pass he shall not be allowed to supplement.

FIRST SCHEDULE
CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

(Regulation 18)

    Certificate of Secondary Education shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the school or centre at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the division in which the candidate was placed;

    (d)    the subjects and the grades attained as:

A = Principal pass;

B = Principal pass;

C = Principal pass;

D = Principal pass;

E = Principal pass;

S = Supplementary pass;

F = Fail;

    (e)    the date of the examinations;

    (f)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council, and the Executive Secretary, and

    (g)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

SECOND SCHEDULE
ADVANCED CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

(Regulation 23)

    Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the school or centre at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the date of the examination;

    (d)    the division in which the candidate was placed;

    (e)    the subjects and the grades attained as–

A = Principal pass;

B = Principal pass;

C = Principal pass;

D = Principal pass;

E = Principal pass;

S = Supplementary pass;

F = Fail;

    (f)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council, and the Executive Secretary; and

    (g)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

THIRD SCHEDULE
CERTIFICATE OF TEACHERS EDUCATION OR DIPLOMA

(Regulation 28)

    The Certificate of Teachers Education or Diploma shall bear–

    (a)    the name of candidate;

    (b)    the college or institute at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the date of the examination, the course, the individual subjects taken and grades attained, provided that the Diploma shall not bear the individual subjects and the grades attained;

    (d)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Secretary; and

    (e)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

FOURTH SCHEDULE
CERTIFICATE FOR BUSINESS EXAMINATIONS

(Regulation 32)

    The Certificate for Business Examinations shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the individual subjects taken and the grades attained as

        A = Excellent;

        B = Very Good;

        C = Good; and

        D = Satisfactory;

    (c)    the date of the examination;

    (d)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council, and the Executive Secretary; and

    (e)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

FIFTH SCHEDULE
CERTIFICATE OF GENERAL COURSES IN ENGINEERING

(Regulation 36)

    The Certificate of General Courses in Engineering shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the Centre or Institute at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the course taken and the date of the examination;

    (d)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Secretary; and

    (e)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

SIXTH SCHEDULE
TECHNICAL EXAMINATION CERTIFICATE

(Regulation 40)

    The Certificate for the Technician Examination shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the Centre or Institute at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the course taken and the date of the examination;

    (d)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Secretary; and

    (e)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

SEVENTH SCHEDULE
FULL TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE

(Regulation 44)

    The Full Technician Certificate shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the College or Institute at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the date of the examination;

    (d)    the course and the individual subjects taken and grades attained;

    (e)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Secretary; and

    (f)    the date of issue and the Seal of the Council and the Serial Number.

EIGHTH SCHEDULE
CERTIFICATE FOR ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING

(Regulation 48)

    The Certificate for Advanced Diploma in Engineering shall bear–

    (a)    the name and examination number of the candidate;

    (b)    the centre or institute at which the examination was taken;

    (c)    the course taken and date of the examination;

    (d)    the signature of the Chairman of the Council and the Executive Secretary; and
